Many causes of breast cancer cannot be changed (age, genetics). Some habits, however, can influence risk and also protect general health.
In daily life
- Regular physical activity: at least 150 minutes of moderate movement a week
- Keeping a healthy weight, especially after menopause
- Cutting down or stopping alcohol
- Quitting smoking
- Breastfeeding when possible
Regular check-ups
Follow the screening programme suited to your age and risk. Build a monthly habit of breast awareness to know your own breasts and notice changes.
Hormone therapy
If you use menopausal hormone therapy, review its type and duration regularly with your doctor.
None of these tips alone gives a guarantee; but a healthy lifestyle lowers risk and makes it easier to follow treatment.
